I’m a fan of spooky films, and all a movie has to do is throw in a creepy, blank-faced child to send shivers up my spine. The Grudge, The Ring, Village of the Damned, and of course, The Shining, are all examples of movies with nightmare-inducing child characters.
But outside of Hollywood, did you know that there is a phenomenon known as the Black-Eyed Kids? Sure, it’s probably urban legend, as most stories like these are, but it’s certainly something to make the hair on your neck stand on end when reading about the alleged experiences with these.. beings.
I recommend giving this article a read, preferably while you are home alone and in a dark room, to learn all about BEK’s and read some experiences of those unlucky enough to encounter them.
As a bonus, here are some clips of some of my favorite scary movies featuring kids (may contain spoilers!):
The Shining (1980)
The Ring (2002)
The Changeling (1980)
The Exorcist (1973)
This scene wasn’t in the original release of the film, but it chilled me to the bone when I first saw it.

I know Carol Anne is technically the victim in this film, but c’mon.. she’s creepy.
