2. This Restaurant Only Serves Avocados
You can’t throw a hipster without hitting an avocado lately, and a trio of Italian avocado lovers, one a chef, cashed in on that fact last month by opening up Avocaderia, an all-avocado restaurant in a warehouse space in the Sunset Park district of Brooklyn. Avocaderia uses organic, fairtrade avocados from Mexico to populate their menu of healthy options such as many varieties of the ubiquitous avocado toast, guacamole, and salads. “Let it Beet” is one of the offerings – toasted sourdough smeared with avocado and topped with beetroot hummus and tangy rocket and spiced pumpkin seeds. I recommend clicking through the photo above and browsing the restaurant’s Instagram profile for some mouthwatering photos of some of the dishes they are serving up.
3. …But This Restaurant Only Serves Nutella
Later this month, the world’s first official Nutella cafe will open in Chicago, bringing diets everywhere to a screeching halt. The cafe itself is designed so that you feel like you’re walking into a jar of Nutella. Glancing at the menu makes me both sad and relieved that I don’t live in Chicago. While there will be a number of non-Nutella options like crepes, paninis, salads, and soups, let’s be honest – everyone is gonna come here for anything and everything spread or stuffed with chocolate hazelnutty goodness. Nutella-stuffed crepes, Nutella gelato, flaky croissants and grilled baguettes, oatmeal and granola, and oh man, brioche waffles, croissant French toast, and buttermilk pancakes loaded with Nutella and toasted hazelnuts.
4. The Only Pan You’ll Ever Need… Or Is it?
Everyone is going nuts over the MasterPan, available from Amazon, advertised as allowing you to cook an entire meal in only one pan. The description claims that despite its large size, only one burner is needed to properly heat the pan because of its heavy gauge metallic base plate that distributes the heat evenly. An extensive trial run by BuzzFeed showed different results, however, as the pan was shown as taking up the tester’s entire stove. Differences in cook times proved to be another challenge, as care must be taken to add things that take longer to cook, like meat or raw vegetables, first, while things that cook quickly, like eggs, must be added last. What do you think of this pan?
