Puppy Day was a little bittersweet since it was less than a week since losing Peanut, but it was also nice to be distracted by something happy, and who wouldn’t be happy over this adorable pile of floof?
Meet Dewey. That’s right, a name that didn’t even appear on our list of top 5 or on the poll that we posted. According to your votes, Truman won hands down. My favorite was Milhouse, but Matt loved Hurley. We had pretty much decided on Hurley, but after a few days of trying it out on Dex, it just didn’t roll off the tongue easily enough. So, I went on the search of a D-name that would coordinate well with Dex.
I had it narrowed down to a few: Doogle, Dobby (the Harry Potter fan in me was nuts about this one), Deuce (hehehe), Duncan, or Dewey. Poor Dex endured another day or so of being called names that are not his own, and Dewey was the one that stuck.
I think it works. It’s dopey and nerdy.. everything a proper Pembroke should be. This boy is 8 weeks old and already has the Corgi Head Tilt down pat.
The famous Pembroke Bunny Butt.
Compared to Dex at this age, Dewey is a complete angel. Our fantastic, wonderful, educated breeders at Immer Essen Farm have taken such care to give him a good head start on crate and house-training. Can you believe we have had him 4 days and he has only had one accident in the house? He’s 8 weeks old! I can’t even believe it, and I’m certainly NOT complaining!
He does have his Pembroke moments (hyper, demanding, strong-willed), but most of the time he lays around like a dish rag.
Found this in the living room on Sunday evening. D’awwwww.
I’m pulling double editing shifts this week to try to stay on top of wedding season deadlines, but I definitely have some funny stories to tell about his interactions with Dex and general puppy goodness all around. Of course, there will also be lots more photos posted. Hey, we don’t have human kids, so we have to brag about our furry ones!
