- 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
- 1 8oz package cream cheese, softened
- 1 egg
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 box butter flavor cake mix
- Powdered sugar for rolling and dusting
Instructions
- Using a stand or hand mixer, combine butter with cream cheese until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until well-combined.
- With mixer on slow speed, slowly add the cake mix in 2-3 additions, scraping the bowl after each addition. Mix until just combined.
- Chill the dough for 2 hours to firm up the butter and cream cheese.
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Form dough into walnut-sized balls (approx 2 TBS or the size of a large cookie scoop) and lightly roll in powdered sugar. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes and then remove from oven and allow to cool slightly on pan before transferring to a cooling rack. Dust with additional powdered sugar if desired. Store in airtight container away from humidity.
