This thick and luscious turkey sausage gravy lets you enjoy your favorite biscuits and gravy breakfast with less fat and calories.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 16-oz roll ground turkey sausage
- 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour, generous (A small mound above the top of the measuring cup)
- 2 cups nonfat milk
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the sausage until no longer pink, breaking up into small pieces with a spatula as it cooks.
- Sprinkle the flour onto the cooked sausage and move it around with a spatula until the sausage and grease is coated - it should look a little pasty.
- Add the milk and use a flat whisk to work out any lumps. Bring the mixture to a good simmer and allow to cook, stirring frequently, until gravy has thickened (will take several minutes, be patient with it)
- Season with salt and pepper and stir. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired.
- Slice some fluffy biscuits in half and place on a plate. Spoon hot gravy over the top and enjoy.
