Description

This thick and luscious turkey sausage gravy lets you enjoy your favorite biscuits and gravy breakfast with less fat and calories.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 16-oz roll ground turkey sausage
  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour, generous (A small mound above the top of the measuring cup)
  • 2 cups nonfat milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown the sausage until no longer pink, breaking up into small pieces with a spatula as it cooks.
  2. Sprinkle the flour onto the cooked sausage and move it around with a spatula until the sausage and grease is coated - it should look a little pasty.
  3. Add the milk and use a flat whisk to work out any lumps.  Bring the mixture to a good simmer and allow to cook, stirring frequently, until gravy has thickened (will take several minutes, be patient with it)
  4. Season with salt and pepper and stir.  Taste and adjust seasonings as desired.
  5. Slice some fluffy biscuits in half and place on a plate.  Spoon hot gravy over the top and enjoy.
