2015 Christmas Oreo Flavors - Peppermint Oreos Review

Another limited edition holiday flavor of Oreos are in stores right now, though this one is nothing new or unique.  Peppermint Oreos were first available many years ago, sometimes being called Candy Cane Oreos instead (though I'm not entirely sure they were exactly the same thing).  As I've never tasted the other versions of this cookie these are brand new to me, so I picked up a pack to review.

These Oreos smell exactly like Andes Mints to me.  There's an almost sinus-clearing strength to the peppermint aroma.  I can get behind that.

As far as I can tell, the cookie is your run o' the mill basic chocolate Oreo cookie, which is a good choice for Peppermint Oreos.  I can see a dark chocolate being fantastic, but with Oreo's tendency to stick with the basic chocolate or Golden Oreos for the cookie, I'm not gonna rag on that too much.

The filling isn't a pure peppermint red, but it's also not a pure pink... it has kind of an orange tinge to it?  Not sure what's going on there.  The taste, however, is alllll peppermint.  Sharp and fresh and, surprising for an Oreo creme filling, not excessively sweet.

Together, the cookie and the filling screamed Girl Scouts Thin Mints, but with a stronger peppermint flavor.  The chocolate cookie works with the filling instead of overpowering it.  These are SO good.

As I haven't tried the previous iterations of this flavor I can't speak as to whether they are the same as their predecessors, but these are worth a purchase this holiday season.
