I wanted to create this honest Nurture Life review to help other parents decide whether or not the service is for them. This review is not in any way affiliated with the Nurture Life company and I was not compensated or provided with free product for this review. This one's just for you!

How Much Does Nurture Life Cost?

The million dollar question that everyone wants, right? For the most accurate pricing and plan information, visit the Nurture Life website. At the time of publication of this post, plans started at $7.49/meal for 6 meals per week, and went as low as $6.49/meal for 15 meals per week.

For creating this review, I chose the 6 items per week option and ordered 3 different meals for my 2 children.

What Kind Of Food Options Are Available?

Nurture Life offers complete ready-to-heat meals as well as fresh smoothies, finger foods for little ones, and snacks.

    • Kids Meals: each meal is fully cooked and ready to heat in either the microwave or the oven. They contain a main dish and one or two healthy side dishes. There is a 'picky eater' category with simpler choices for kiddos with more sensitive palates.
    • Finger Foods: one-bowl meals with bites that are easy to grab for little ones just graduating to solid foods and starting to self feed. Meats and main dishes are diced very small and the meals aren't covered in heavy sauces so they aren't too messy.
    • Smoothies: the smoothies have no added sugar and include a combination of fruits, hidden vegetables, and superfoods. The smoothies arrive fresh and ready for kids to enjoy.
    • Snacks: called "Mighty Bites", Nurture Life's snacks are little round balls with wholesome ingredients and tasty flavors like oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, and double chocolate.

My meals arrived fresh and cold.

    Do The Meals Arrive Frozen?

My box contained insulation material and ice packs to keep the meals cold. They were chilled and ready to go in the refrigerator. They did not arrive frozen. The packaging material can be recycled and I kept the ice packs in the freezer for future use.

I was home at the time my box arrived, so I can't speak for how well they would do if left in the sun on a hot summer day. I can say that I was impressed with the quality and care that went into the packaging and shipping material.

Do Nurture Life Meals Have To Be Refrigerated?

Yes, when your box arrives, move the items to the refrigerator.

    My kids favorite meal.

    Do The Meals Change?

Nurture Life has a static collection of meal favorites that you can order every week, and there are also new items to try every few months. At any given time, there are at least 25 full kids meals to choose from.

Chicken Meatballs with Spiral Pasta and Veggies

This was a safe meal choice since my kids already eat chicken meatballs, spiral pasta with red sauce, AND broccoli (cauliflower sometimes.. it depends, haha). Because there was nothing crispy or crunchy in the meal, I chose to use the microwave heating instructions, which are faster.

    Perfect size!

My kids enjoyed most of this meal. They said the sauce was different from the way I make it, which almoooost led to rejection and refusal to eat, but they managed to get through most of it. They enjoyed the chicken meatballs and all of the veggies, so this meal was mostly a success.

    Winner for picky eaters.

    Nurture Life Cheeseburger Mac Meal

The next meal I rustled up for this review was the cheeseburger mac and broccoli meal. Again, since there were no crunchy or crispy ingredients, I used the microwave instructions and was able to heat up the meal in the original packaging.

I served the meal alongside some fresh apple slices to round it out a bit, but the portion size was just about right for my kids (6 and 8 years old and with varying appetites depending on the day... as it goes, ha).

Here's a no frills look at how the meal looks in the original packaging. My opinion of the cheeseburger mac differed from my kids'. I thought that it was quite tasty, but neither of my kids would eat much of it. Keeping in mind that they are extremely picky regarding the sauces that go on their pasta, I knew this one could be a hit or a miss. The broccoli (and my supplemental apple slices) were eaten, but the mac was left largely untouched.

Nurture Life Chicken Taco Pockets with Fiesta Rice

The final meal I chose for the week was my risky meal, as it contained things that are totally unfamiliar to my kids. They have a touchy past with rice and neither of them have ever warmed to it, but the taco pockets looked tasty and I wanted them to at least try it.

I found the portion sizes to be filling for my kids.

Use The Oven For Crispy or Crunchy Meals

Because the shell of the taco pockets is meant to be crispy, I transferred the meal to an oven-safe container and used the heating instructions for a conventional oven. I knew if I tried to heat this one in the microwave, the pockets would end up dense and chewy and there'd be no way I'd get my kids to eat any of it.

My gamble paid off, and though they picked the carrots and corn out of the rice and refused to eat most of it, they both LOVED the taco pockets. Each meal contained 5 pockets and a generous amount of fiesta rice, so again, once some apple slices/applesauce was added on the side, it was a decently-sized meal.

    Is It Easy To Cancel?

Yes, as long as you put your "order cutoff date" on the calendar and skip the week or cancel your subscription before that date. Your cutoff date is determined by the delivery date that you choose for each week and that information is available in your account details when logged into the website. If you don't choose your meals or choose to cancel before the date, your box will be populated with meals chosen by Nurture Life and shipped to you.

So much like any recurring subscription, make sure to add any important dates to your calendar so if you're not sure that you want to continue receiving (and paying for) meals, you'll have the chance to cancel without being charged for an upcoming week.

    What's the Nutritional Profile Like?

Nurture Life does a good job choosing wholesome ingredients and putting together balanced meals. I was impressed with the macronutrient split of most of the meals and further encouraged by the lack of extra junk ingredients.
