thinkThin has recently released a line of Protein Cakes in 3 tasty flavors as a more macro-friendly way to snack on something sweet.  The cakes are non-GMO and contain 12g of protein and only 1g of sugar.  They're primarily sweetened using natural stevia leaf extract and monk fruit extract.  Each package contains 2 cakes (1 serving).  I'm already familiar with thinkThin's line of protein bars and used to consume them frequently for meal replacements, so when the company reached out to me to try this new product I was totally down.  Bring 'em on!

Overall Thoughts:  Each package contains 2 protein cakes, each comparable in diameter to an Oreo cookie, though much thicker.  All of the flavors feature a cake-flavored center with a solid frosting coating on the outside.  I liked that the package contains two separate cakes instead of one big one, making it easier to split up if you only want to eat one cake at a time.  The texture of the cakes is similar to a protein bar, but a bit softer and fluffier.  It's definitely closer to bar texture than cake texture, though I didn't find this to be a turn-off.

Where to Buy:  Use the store locator to find a local source, or you can order the cakes and other thinkThin products directly from the website.

Y'all know I grabbed the Birthday Cake flavor as fast as I could!  The little cakes are just adorable with little color flecks that seemed to be embedded into the outer coating as opposed to being crunchy sprinkles.  This one was very sweet, as I expected from a birthday cake flavor.  I do appreciate that there is a buttery component to the taste and overall I found this one to be very pleasant and one I would buy again.

Red Velvet is described as having a fudgy cake center with a cream cheese frosting coating and red sprinkles.  The sprinkles are the same type of deal that were on the Birthday Cake flavor - more so flecks of color embedded into the coating.  You can kind of see the color of the cake inside through the frosting and I expected to cut into it to find a bright red center, though the inside looked more like straight up chocolate cake.  I appreciate that the cakes use natural sources for coloring, though, so the lack of bright red velvet color is forgiven.  The flavor could use a little more oomph.  I didn't get much "cream cheese" in the outer coating and there wasn't much "red velvet" to the overall flavor profile.

Chocolate Cake is the standout of all 3 protein cakes flavors.  The fudgy outer coating and extra drizzle gives the chocolate-y inside a great boost.  By far the yummiest flavor and one I would buy again.  This variety has the most concentrated flavor of them all and would make a perfect sweet afternoon snack to get you through those munchies that hit around 3pm.  You know the ones.

What are the actual net carbs? Is that what they have already listed? I am confused and cannot find a straight answer online.

11g of the carbs listed are from sugar alcohols, which are USUALLY subtracted from the total carb count to get net carbs, because sugar alcohols usually don't have an effect on blood sugar. So if you use that assumption, each serving has about 8g of net carbs.
