    ProMax protein bars review

It's been a good long while since I shared some protein bars with you guys, so let's take a look at a couple I just tried from PROMAX Nutrition.

    ProMax protein bars review

I sampled two flavors from the Pro Series line of nutrition bars.  The packaging states that I'm getting 25-26g of protein per bar, they are gluten and soy protein free, and they have a 1:1 carb to protein ratio.  The package also states that I will end up lean and muscular with six pack abs from consuming these bars.

Just kidding about that last part, but that would be pretty awesome.

The flavors I sampled were Peanut Butter Crisp and Triple Chocolate Crisp.  Let's get to eatin'.

The bar was really pretty - shiny chocolate and lots and lots of visible krispies.

Here's a peek at the nutritional info for Triple Chocolate Crisp.  The ingredients are: Promax® Protein Blend (Whey Protein, Milk Protein, Egg, Casein), Cane Sugar, Tapioca Starch, Cocoa (alkalized), Coconut Oil, Chocolate, Glycerine, Erythritol, Natural Flavors, Inulin, Cocoa Butter, Salt, Milk Fat, Soy Lecithin, Calcium Carbonate, Stevia Leaf (Reb A).

After removing the wrapper I caught hints of the typical and familiar "chocolate protein bar" smell.  I noticed that the chocolate wasn't quick to melt onto my fingers, which I appreciated.

The chocolate flavor isn't too sweet and has a bitterness to it that I prefer.  It's loaded down with the little krispies bits.  The bar is quite sturdy and chewy, but still easy to eat.  I didn't detect any weird after taste that many protein bars have.  All in all, a decent chocolate protein bar.

The Peanut Butter Crisp bar was also loaded down with visible krispies and was slightly stickier to the touch than the chocolate.

Here is the nutritional info for Peanut Butter Crisp.  The ingredients are: Promax® Protein Blend (Whey Protein, Milk Protein, Egg, Casein), Cane Sugar, Peanuts, Tapioca Starch, Glycerine, Natural Flavors, Salt, Inulin, Molasses, Calcium Carbonate.

The bar smelled really good and reminded me of Payday candy bars with a fresh, strong peanut aroma.

    ProMax protein bars review

Peanut Butter Crisp was the clear winner of these two flavors.  The taste and texture reminded me of a peanut butter nougat with just enough chewiness present to prevent any chalky texture from the protein blend.  I found this flavor to be a bit softer and easier to bite into than the Triple Chocolate Crisp and once again found the generous crispy bits to be a nice complement to the base of the bar.  This one is a winner and one I would purchase again in the future.

You can purchase these Pro Series bars online right here or you can browse the full line of PROMAX products and find where you can purchase them locally by visiting their website.

I was provided with a sampling of PROMAX bars for the purpose of this review.  I do not accept free product or compensation in return for a fully positive review.  Remember my motto: if it sucks, I'll tell ya!
