Near the beginning of the month, a familiar red box appeared in our mailbox and caused Jasper to immediately start bouncing up and down shouting, "The craft is here!!" Yes, it's that time of the month for Gramma in a Box!
Each themed Gramma in a Box contains everything you need for decorating cookies and creating 2 candy crafts. The box contains the already-baked cookies as well as pre-measured portions of all of the decorating supplies. Easy to follow instructions for each craft are included on colorful cards.
Gramma Terry posts video tutorials for each of the products ahead of each month's box, and you can visit her Facebook page to see them.
I opened the box to be hit with the familiar scent of sugary goodness and saw this this month's theme is, of course, St. Patrick's Day Treats. I can't tell you how hard it was to quickly snap this photo with all the little hands trying to grab at the fun ingredients inside.
The first project is an easy one, Shamrock Pretzel Pops. Pretzels are arranged in the shape of a shamrock and then held together to a lollipop stick with melting chocolate and decorated with sprinkles.
The second project is one my kids love to eat - Crispy Pot 'O Gold Cups which mixes Rice Krispies with melting chocolate, scooped into mini cupcake papers, and then decorated with little gold sugar coins and shamrock sprinkles.
The last project is, of course, decorating sugar cookies cut out like shamrocks and pots of gold. The icing colors this month are green, white, and yellow.
Time to get started! The kids helped me arrange the pretzels according to the directions, but they totally wanted to munch on the pretzels before we even had a chance to get the chocolate on them!
Makin' 'em pretty.
Jasper helped mix in the Rice Krispies with the remaining chocolate while Shelby finished up her pretzel pops.
My beautiful boy gets SO excited when it's Gramma in a Box time.
They got out their mini spatulas so they could steal little tastes of the crispy candy. They love those things!
Making sure each paper cup had equals amounts of chocolate and cereal mix.
Building those fine motor skills separating those thin little baking cups.
Adding the gold coins.
Then of course, the best part is getting to munch on their beautiful creations! Or his "masterpiece" as Jasper calls it.
Om nom nom.
There was totally a dog under the table just waiting to score a tidbit from those crumbly treats.
And as always, we were left with a plate of beautifully festive goodies! While the kids picked out a treat to enjoy, I cleaned up our workspace. I keep the cardboard shipping box and just place all of the plastic containers and paper into it (after shaking out any remaining sprinkles, etc) and then it all goes into the recycling bin. Clean-up is a breeze!
'Tis the luck o' the Irish!
"Sam-wocks!" There were definitely some green faces and hands after this box!
