clif-mojo-dipped-sweet-and-salty-trail-mix-bars-01 Matt and I eat nutrition bars all the flippin' time.  They are our favorite pre-workout snack to give us an extra hit of energy before exerting ourselves.  Because we typically exercise  at the end of the workday, right when the afternoon sleepies are in full force, a solid snack is pretty much a requirement.  We've been trying lots of fun new bars lately, and this time we were sent both flavors of the CLIF Mojo Dipped bars that Matt put through the paces for a couple of days.

CLIF Bars Mojo line is described as sweet and salty trail mix bars.  They're meant to mimic a handful of hearty, chunky, sweet and salty trail mix.  The Mojo dipped bars take it one step further by adding a coating of chocolate on the underside of each one.

Nutrition snapshot: Each bar is 200 calories, 8 grams of protein, 9-11 grams of fat, and 20-23 grams of carbohydrates.  These bars are 70% organic and contain no trans fat or processed sugar.  You can get the full scoop on Clif Bar nutrition info and ingredients right here!

But what you guys are really here for is what we thought of the taste, right?  Let's get to it!

clif-mojo-dipped-s'mores-bar-01 First up is S'mores, a very fitting flavor for a "trail mix" bar.  S'mores are synonymous with hiking, campfires, and just about anything summer-related.

clif-mojo-dipped-s'mores-bar-02The bar has a great hearty texture with big ole chunks of chocolate, graham cookie pieces, and almonds.  It's all held together by the soy rice crisps that are so commonly found in CLIF and LUNA bars.  Of course, there's also the chocolate layer on the bottom.

clif-mojo-dipped-s'mores-bar-03  Seriously, they don't skimp on the chocolate chunks, my friends.  Matt said that the overall flavor of the bar was fantastic and that the marshmallow flavor reminded him of cereals such as Lucky Charms.  The chocolate on the bottom was smooth and bold, and overall it was a wonderful sweet treat.  When asked what could have made the bar even better, he said that if the graham cookie pieces had been bigger or the graham flavor in general more prominent then it would have been a slam dunk.

CLIF Mojo Dipped S'mores - four-half-star 4.5 out of 5 (Buy this flavor)

clif-mojo-dipped-chocolate-peanut-01 Next we have Chocolate Peanut, also a fitting flavor for a dipped trail mix bar, because we all know that the M&Ms are the best part of a handful of trail mix, amirite?

clif-mojo-dipped-chocolate-peanut-02Again, check out that chunky, hearty texture.  No skimping on the ingredients here, this bar has big ole peanut halves as well as an ingredient I didn't expect from the name... pretzel chunks!

clif-mojo-dipped-chocolate-peanut-03Matt said the flavor was spot on, exactly like eating a handful of trail mix.  He enjoyed the soy crisps in this one and said it made the overall bar feel lighter, especially in the presence of all of those chunky peanuts.  The chocolate dip on the bottom brought the whole thing together and the mixture of the sweet and salty elements was a perfect balance.  That last opinion was an important one for me, since so often things labeled as "sweet and salty" seem to skimp on the saltiness... this one doesn't!

CLIF Mojo Dipped - Chocolate Peanut five-star 5 out of 5 (Buy this flavor)

Overall Impressions: We definitely recommend these bars and this is a product that we would buy again.  The big chunks used in the bars is what really sold me here, and I think the Mojo line has got a good thing going by stuffing their bars full of meaty man-sized nuggets of schtuff!
