    Opinions: LUNA Fiber Bars

luna-fiber-bars-review-01For the past few days, I gave these new Luna fiber bars a trial run in place of my usual afternoon snack.  I'm a big fan of the regular Luna bars and seem to always be on the hunt for the best fiber bars, so I was excited to check these out!  Each one contains 7 grams of fiber and 110 - 120 calories.

luna-fiber-bars-review-02First up, let's tear into this chocolate raspberry!

    luna-fiber-bars-review-02aMmm... looks delicious!

luna-fiber-bars-review-02b I'm a big fan of chocolate/raspberry combinations, but I have to say, I was a little disappointed in the taste of this flavor.  It has the texture that one would expect from a fiber bar and while that doesn't bother me at all, the flavor leaves something to be desired.  The chocolate exterior isn't sweet, which is sometimes a good thing depending on my mood, but I felt that the raspberry flavor is almost completely lost.  It's not terrible, but it's probably not one that I'll buy again.

LUNA Fiber Chocolate Raspberry: two-half-star  2.5 out of 5  (Buy this flavor)

    Nnnnnnnext!

luna-fiber-bars-review-03Vanilla Blueberry!  I was really excited to try this one.

luna-fiber-bars-review-03aThe bar has the same sugar coating on the top, and something that looks like oat-y shavings on the bottom (all the flavors have this).

luna-fiber-bars-review-03bThis one is a winner!  The vanilla exterior is much more moist than the chocolate and has a really nice flavor.  The blueberry filling is fresh, strong and has a great flavor - it even has big chunks of actual blueberries in it!  The improved texture does a good job of hiding the fact that it's high in fiber.  I could definitely see myself buying this one again!

LUNA Fiber Vanilla Blueberry: four-star 4 out of 5 (Buy this flavor)

luna-fiber-bars-review-04The third flavor I tried was Peanut Butter Strawberry.  Mmm!

luna-fiber-bars-review-04bPeek a boo! Imma eat you!

luna-fiber-bars-review-04aThis flavor was also very good.  The outside reminded me a lot of the Vanilla Blueberry, but there were small chunks of sweet peanut butter sprinkled throughout.  The strawberry filling had a good flavor without any weird after tastes.  I would definitely buy this one again.  My only wish is that the peanut butter flavor in the outer part was a bit stronger... then it'd be a home run!  As it is, it's still really tasty!

LUNA Fiber Peanut Butter Strawberry: three-half-star 3.5 out of 5 (Buy this flavor)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall Impressions:  Definitely worth a try, especially the Vanilla Blueberry and Strawberry Peanut Butter flavors.  One major thing I appreciated was that for the 3 days that ate these bars as my afternoon snack, I didn't experience any tummy upset, which is a real concern with fiber bars.  They also did a great job of curbing the dreaded cases of Afternoon Munchies that seem to attack somewhere between lunch and dinner.  I ate these a couple of hours prior to my workout and they didn't have any adverse affects on my performance.  Leave me a comment if you give these a try and tell me what you think!

Oooh, thanks for this! I am glad you reviewed these, because I just recently have noticed them and almost bought some last night but thought, "Mehhhhhh, I'm not sure if they look that good." But, they're still on sale, so I think I'll go try out the vanilla blueberry.
