Turkey burgers don't have to be boring! These are loaded with flavors like orange juice and soy and are spread with a low calorie Greek yogurt aioli.

Lean turkey burgers have a reputation for being dry, tasteless, and... boring.

Turkey burgers don't have to be boring! These are loaded with flavors like orange juice and soy and are spread with a low calorie Greek yogurt aioli.

If you're someone who has given up on turkey burgers because of the above-mentioned reasons, then you NEED to give this recipe a try!  I promise you it will change your mind about lean ground turkey.  By filling the patties with veggies and spices, topping it with a flavorful and calorie-conscious Greek yogurt aioli, and dressing it up with your favorite vegetables (bun is optional but ) you'll have a great low calorie weekday meal. But if you are on a cheat day and you know buns are a difference maker, I would recommend you to choose brioche buns for this burger.

Definitely one to keep around as you gear up for the holiday week of treats and yummies coming up soon.  Enjoy!

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • Turkey Burger
    • ¼ cup chopped green onions
    • ⅓ cup finely chopped mushrooms
    • 2 TBS orange juice, from fresh
    • 1 TBS low-sodium soy sauce
    • 1 pinch ground ginger
    • 1 pinch garlic powder
    • 1 lb lean ground turkey
    • Greek Yogurt Aioli
    • 1 5.3 or 6oz container plain Greek yogurt
    • 2 TBS Dijon mustard
    • 1 TBS honey
    • 1 tsp orange juice, from fresh
    • 1 tsp low-sodium soy sauce
    • 1 pinch ground ginger
    • 6 hamburger buns of any kind
    • Baby spinach or lettuce, fresh tomato, or any other vegetables of choice

    Instructions

    1. Combine all ingredients for the turkey burgers in a bowl, mixing with a spoon or with clean hands until everything is well incorporated. Separate the mixture into 6 equal portions and shape into patties.
    2. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Spray with cooking spray and cook patties until well done, about 6 minutes per side.
    3. While the patties are cooking, stir together all ingredients for aioli in a medium bowl.
    4. Serve patties on buns spread with aioli and top with lettuce or spinach, tomato, or any other vegetables you like.

These sound like they are super flavorful with all that is going on between the burger and the yummy aioli! Definitely a nice change from the heavy recipes this time of year.
